Children's Day Out!

This time of the year is already time for parties and other get-togethers. We also had a bit of  party for the children from the church. Actually we only assisted, being the Children's Ministry leader, Mandy facilitated the whole thing. The children had fun, (I hope). Well, they sure had great time swimming even though the water was quite cold. We had some games like flour blowing, water relay relay, and others. The last part was the exchange gift and awarding. Here are some pics!

Bye-Bye Laptop Of Mine

It's so sad really because my constant companion for the almost 3 years has finally gave up on me. And before you start wondering who or rather what I'm I'm talking about, take a look at this picture.

Yes, it's my Acer 4520G laptop. It crashed two about two weeks ago. You can just imagine my chagrin when it wouldn't power on anymore. And to add insult to injury, I haven't submitted all my articles yet when that happened! I had to rewrite two of them! I was supposed to go somewhere that time but was not able to because   I had to retrieve what I can from my mail. Grrr you can just imagine my frustration and annoyance that time.

When I took it to the computer repair shop ( I won't mention which), the technician wouldn't give me a proper explanation. It was just "most likely its motherboard failure." Frustrating really. I wouldn't go there ever again.

Anyway, instead of shelling out money for repair I just bought a new desktop instead, which set me back financially (you should see my sad face right now). i already spent quite a lot when my laptop had a damaged processor and video card, so i'd rather just buy a desktop this time. At least I'm able to work properly again. I'll write about my new desktop next time! 'Til then!

A Visit to the Bryant Feeding Center

Bread

Have you ever seen so much freshly baked bread in your life? I have! Last Sunday we went to a "factory" where soya milk and soya bread are made. This is located in Mabini, Irosin, Sorsogon. It's actually not that big but it's enough. This "factory" doesn't operate for profit. It exists for charity and the individuals working there are all missionaries of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. It's called the Bryant Feeding Center that feeds indigent and malnourished children and adults. Right now the Center feeds about 1,000 individuals per day. The staple food fed to them is soya milk and soya bread. Too bad I forgot to ask who is financing the said center. But with such a noble cause, I hope this feeding center continues to operate for years to come so that other people, especially the less fortunate ones will continue to be blessed.

Chance Meeting with Miss Maria Venus Raj

I've traveled to and from Legazpi through Cebu Pacific for several times already and I've never yet had a chance to be with a celebrity on the same flight! Well, this weekend I was lucky! I flew to the Legazpi last Saturday. Woke up really early because my flight was at 6a.m. The wait for the boarding announcement was boring and uneventful. Even the flight was the same. I just slept through it. When we were about to  disembark, the flight crew suddenly announced, "We would like to acknowledge the presence of Miss Universe Maria Venus Raj" Everyone was surprised, I was surprised and delighted because I really haven't seen her in person ever! It seemed she was seated at the forward part of the plane and though I tried to crane my neck as high as I could, I couldn't even catch a glimpse of her. So I just decided to wait at the arrival area.

There was a welcoming committee for her waiting for her at the arrival area. I recognized the Bicol University President Madam Fay Lauraya together with other BU faculty standing beside the banner for Miss Venus Raj. After what seemed like a long wait, Miss Universe 4th Runner Up Maria Venus Raj finally stepped out of the plane. She's really tall and very slim! She was smiling as she walked to the arrival area. As expected there was a pictorial session. I was also able to take some shots, luckily my camera's battery still had a charge. Lots of people were able to take pictures with her, lucky for them. Miss Raj looks really beautiful and sweet.

Here are some of the pictures I took with my cam. Enjoy!

One Invigorating Sunday

I know it's been a while since I updated this blog. I've been really busy. I went home home last weekend, well, I actually spent the whole week there since it was going to be a very long weekend for me anyway due to Eid El Fitr. Anyway, it was a good time for me because at least I was able to exercise...one thing that I haven't done in a long time.
Together with Mandy and some of the folks from church, we went to Kawa-Kawa in Ligao City. We woke up at 4.30am so that we can be there in time for the mass aerobics. The short climb to the peak left me out of breath, which shows just how out of shape I am;). Anyway, when we got to the peak, the aerobics exercise was already starting. There were lots of people participating - children, teens, adults of both sexes. We immediately joined in! Although I couldn't follow some of the steps, it was still so much fun and was able to sweat out some of my fats! Well, i hope so.

I'm so looking forwards to another hike up there! And also to the aerobics exercise. It's really much more motivating if you see other people exercising with you.

For My Beloved Lola

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 1 Thess. 4: 14.

It's been three months since we laid our beloved Lola to rest. We miss you. I know Lolo misses you most of all. Every time I go home and talk with him, he would always reminisce of the years your spent together. When he speaks it's as if those things happened only yesterday. He still get teary-eyed when he remembers you. Things aren't the same now that you're not around.

I can't help but get teary-eyed as well now as a write this. Soon there will be a big change in my life and I'm sad you won't be able to witness it. But at least you were able to meet Him when you were still with us and this makes me happy.

You're finally at peace Lola. We will wait for the day when we will see each other again when Jesus comes to get those who are faithful to Him.

We love you and we miss you more everyday.

Earth Day at 40!

The world celebrated Earth Day on April 22. This is actually the first time that I've heard about this event. I don't think there was a celebration for this last year. It made me wonder. So, I decided to research in order to know more about this event.

Turns out this year is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. 40 years is a very long time. I guess this is the reason why itis being celebrated with a bang. Earth Day was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson on April 22, 1970. He came up with this idea after witnessing the devastation caused by the massive oil spill in the coast of Santa Barbara in 1969.

From the very first Earth Day celebration in 1970, this event just grew bigger and bigger every year. This 2010 more than 190 countries participated in the event. Through this event, organizers, agencies, and concerned citizens are hoping that it would be a "turning point to advance climate policy, energy efficiency, renewable energy and green jobs."  Also, it is hoped that more people would be aware that there something they can do, even in their little way, to help preserve Mother Earth for the future generation.

So, how did you celebrate Earth Day 2010?

Lovin' the Red Gumamela

It's been a while again since i updated this blog. Been busy. Anyway, have I mentioned that red is one of my most favorite color? I can't really remember if i mentioned that small detail here. Brilliant and eye-catching red, that's what I like. So, while going on a particular road, I saw this red gumamela flowers that I just couldn't resist getting a snap of.  By the way this flower is also called hibiscus. Love it! What do you think?

Last Best Sunset of 2009

How did you spend the last day of 2009? I know this question might be kind of late already, but well, at least it's a chance to reflect. Anyway, if you will ask me, I had the chance to witness one of the most beautiful sunsets in my life. And it was one of the most memorable too:) I spent the New Year with my friends in an island...it's a great thing we near the sea that afternoon because we were able to see a great display of light during the last hours of 2009.

Here are some pictures.
